'Confessions' Director at Film Screening

'Confessions of a Sailor' director Kurt Krauss was among some 200 guests at 'There Be Dragons' Milwaukee film screening earlier this month. 'There Be Dragons' is directed by Roland Joffe (the Mission, the Killing Fields) and a product of Motive Entertainment.

  1. Actually, There Be Dragons was not "written by" Roland Joffe. Joffe came onto the project two years into its development. He was hired to direct a script by Barbara Nicolosi. After signing on, Joffe began a rewrite of Nicolosi's script. Somewhere along the line, apparently Joffe used another writer as well. Now, Joffe and the production company of There Be Dragons are everywhere claiming that Joffe wrote the script. The Writers Guild of America has requested all the parties involved with writing the movie to stop promoting any official credits as they have yet to be decided. The WGA will be holding an arbitration. The original writer is always given, minimally a shared story by credit when the director does a rewrite. The most Joffe could get here is a "screenplay by" credit.
