Steel Bridge SongFest and 'Confessions' Connection

STURGEON BAY--Mike Mangione and the Union took the main stage Saturday afternoon, June 9th at Steel Bridge SongFest as a part of the all-star showcase of talent. Special guest performer Victor DeLorenzo, drummer of the Violent Femmes, teamed up with the band for an epic show. Mike Mangione and the Union are to feature in the 'Confessions of a Sailor' film soundtrack. Among other gifted performers featured in the festival was singer/songwriter Elliot Goettelman. Goettelman appears in 'Confessions of a Sailor' as a Carl D. Bradley crew member. The Steel Bridge SongFest movement began nearly a decade earlier as an effort to save and restore the historic Sturgeon Bay steel bridge, special to locals and visitors. In need of repair and protection, a non-profit committee formed on behalf of the steel bridge. The music festival was born drawing in artists including Rock-N-Roll Hall of Famer Jackson Browne, Jane Wiedlin of the Go-Go's, pat mAcdonald, Victoria Vox to name a few.
